The guest room is pretty much done. In all, I painted 3 walls, wallpapered the 4th, along with leaving some of the blackboard paint on that wall. It turned out pretty cool, as far as I'm concerned. And I guess that's what matters. I used a Winnie the Pooh story book, a Bobbsey Twins book, and some pages from the Children of the World, or something like that. All books were without color. The Pooh stories had quite a few pictures, and I tried to maximize them. The Bobbsey book was quite brownish pages, and the other book just threw in some extra pages and pictures of dutch kids and some eskimo ones, I think. Some staggering and partials and different sizes and sideways application gave me a wall that looks like this...
Overall, it looks like this in the lamplight. The center of the wall is the chalkboard for messages for the guests...
I have been moving things around in the garage and finally found where I had stashed an old frame. There were a few special pages in the Pooh book - the dedication page, the starting page, the final page, pages and passages that were perfect for an old, brown, simply carved frame. With a thin board cut to fit, the pages were layered and Mod Podged down and left to dry. Then it was fitted into the frame, secured and hung on the wall. I have loved this frame since I picked it up and can't even remember where. So glad to finally have a chance to use it.
Add to that, these two stitched hangings I found at Neckers Company, and another spot is complete.
And since this room is for travelers, I decided to hang my end box label from a soldier in California, to his wife, back at home. A box end purchased at the auction of one of my old church guys. People I knew, from their time of war.
