Yarn Along - October 17th or so....

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

This is a thing that I found one day and I like to join in whenever I can on a Wednesday... if you want to see what everyone else is working on, hop over to Small Things with Ginny and check it out
Today I am blocking.  I've not had too much experience with blocking, because I just don't worry about it with a scarf or hat or Christmas stocking or a pair of socks...or much with something felted...that's a whole different wet shaping task.  So I got two old ceiling tiles from my little collection...don't ask...and laid them side by side and started trying to make My Sunlight Shawl for Sad People the shape I want it to be.  They weren't quite as wide as I wanted...I hope that is a good thing, because I REALLY wanted this to be wider than it was in the end...And wet it and laid it out on that striped beach towel...yeah, that was accidental that the thing had stripes, but it was AWESOME to help me get it straight!  Sometimes things just happen that way...Anyway, it will stay in that position until I feel it is safe to be released.  The edge of this has a PICOT edge, which was new to me, but I really liked doing it.  I am smiling over the color, which is so much like the trees have been the last week or two.
See what I mean about this neat edge? OK, give me a little break and don't compare the number of bumps on one side vs. the other.  I get distracted, but I still like the look and you'll be liking it when I wear it and smile from ear to ear.  Tell me, what do YOU do when your shawl is not as wide as you'd like and it isn't long enough to cross in the back and just hang the tails back around the front??
And this is a close-up of what I'm reading.  You will notice NO fiction here and I'm struggling with that, but I'm going to clean up a bit and through one in the mix.  The James book is for the youth Bible Study that meets tonight and yes, I've got it done.  The Frappe book is for my Sunday School class, and I've still got some more to do before Sunday morning.  The Twelve Unlikely Heroes I'm struggling with and I have to have 3 chapters done for Saturday night with Table of 8 here.  I just need to jump into that when I'm not in bed half asleep.  The Happiness Project is the best investment I've made in a while to my attitude adjustment. Thanks to January, I've got 3 garbage bags full of clothes from this house going to the Salvation Army today.  And I just might find more stuff after I get on here.  Once you start, it is so freeing to bless others with your overflow.  The bookcase in my house is going to get an overhaul, too and the church library will benefit from all of those Christian Book Distributor orders I've placed!! Just gotta let go sometimes.  I've also been knitting on that great wool I got at Hemlock Lake - just a simple cowl type of thing, but I love the feel of it as I knit and not thinking about anything, just knitting.  I even had a friend over last weekend for a bit and we sat out in that new camper with James Taylor and Carole King playing and knit and talked for quite a while.  Very peaceful in a crazy world.....

Thanks for all the help, Eli!  He had a birthday last month and now he is one.  We were at work in this picture and his ball was laying on my desk.  He puts it up there and then nudges it so it will roll on your work, so you will toss it back to him.

Remember to link over to Ginny's Blog and see what everyone else is doing .....
