Clymer Lady Pirates - Sectional Champs 2010!!

It been a long time coming, this blue patch that means you are the sectional champs... we have red ones, that means this was the game you lost...but this year, the patch is blue...

But there's a voice inside my head saying

"You'll never reach it"

Varying sources list the last Lady Pirates Basketball team to win the Sectional title to have been back in the late 70's...77-78 or 78-79 teams. I was doing stats for them then..I can't remember either...but the plaque is in the trophy case. My guess is the earlier year, when Paulette Stein was our coach.. She left our high school to go to Slippery Rock to coach girls...she has traveled around, coaching, retiring and coaching again. Last I knew, she was in the Dakota's coaching again.

From the first tip-off, to the final buzzer, this game could have gone either way. Two very good teams coming head to head in a strong battle of skills...The girls played good team ball and that's what wins these things. Some key foul shots, very strong rebounding on our side, no major foul trouble. It was the night that they'd dreamed about forever...

AND THEIR DREAM CAME TRUE!!

The happy team that came off the floor was a whole lot more fun than after last year's game... the victory much sweeter, with the memory of last year's defeat still close enough to feel... for many of the 7 seniors, this is their 4th season in playoffs. GOSH it feels GOOD!!

It is the tradition of these girls to throw a goofy-face picture in whenever they are in a group, homecoming, prom, sports teams...all include goofy-face photos...so here is the one from Saturday night... and the coach with the plaque...AWESOME!! Andy and Dani posing every chance they get ...the only time they'll play together in basketball, since one is coming onto the team and one is coming off...

Andy and Syd... their moms were in the gym the last time the girls were Sectional champs...along with Jenn's mom..They were wearing uniforms..I had a pencil and clipboard... Kailyn might be an import, but she had a great night for our team and has a trophy to show for it!! She's short, so her brother carried her on his shoulders so we could find her!!
