Hilltop Racing

Saturday night was the Hilltop Racing event to benefit Todd Legters' scholarship fund. This was my first trip up to the track and it was really pretty fun. It is a go cart track that I believe Todd helped them set up. The busiest night is the Chicken 500, where chicken barbeque is one of the big draws and they do a couple hundred chickens, from what I hear. Maybe another year, I'll get there...and maybe I'll see you there...
Pictured above is Bill Buesink on the backstretch. Unfortunately for him, and Ricke Bennink his driver, they had engine problems right off the bat, so it's back to the shop for that cart and back in 2 weeks to try again!!

Ever so cool is the lighted track.. but we did a few outages, but that was OK...just adds to that redneck experience.... :o)...loved it....from Nazareth Road it must resemble the Field of Dreams... Goodnight racers, where ever you are....

We profited from the concession stand, which was where I spent my evening, a 50-50 in which the winner turned the money right back in, and also each winning racer turned their money back into the twins who own the track. We can easily do our scholarship for 2 or 3 more times on that money...a new tradition. They unveiled a picture of Todd at Pine Junction yesterday at 4pm. I had thought about going, but got going in a few different directions and remembered it at 7:30.
