sorry...

I was going to post today after I got the Family Room cleaned up. Honest I was...

But the truth is, it was never cleaned up, picked up, or back to any semblance of order. It has been quite a while of stuffing stuff down here when you didn't know where else to put it, or just dropping it here on your way by, or sorting and folding and not putting away. Even the dust bunnies didn't want to live down here anymore. And looking through to the 'toyroom' was equally disturbing. That's where we keep our socks...all of our socks...all unmated and waiting for someone...

I was sort of on strike about it. There are too many socks and why do I have to match them all and if they do a really bad job then I won't ask them again, right???

And if you look through the sliding door, you'll see that I was also trying to get some sheets and quilts and blankets washed and hung outside. After all, it's been a while since I had such a nice day to do stuff. Even now, my helper suffers from a hereditary disease of starter-stopper. That would be the hose to the vac, that was abandoned for a time this morning.... I had the webster and the bucket and I was getting down to business...

I'm showing you this to embarrass myself. Naw, it's this way too much and it is, what it is. Tonight the room is not done. I decided one wall could use a fresh coat of paint as long as I had it all ripped apart... but these baskets and clothes and laundry, they're all put away...where they REALLY belong, not just out of sight.

My mom's been reading a book I bought and hadn't gotten to yet. She sent me an email with a quote from it just yesterday.."A family lives here. They are busy and happy and a little messy but someday they won't be so, and you'll be sorry."

Thanks, Mom. Aren't you glad this is mostly picked up though??? It looks much better than these pictures from this morning. She wishes I inherited just a little more of her 'clean genes' !!!

Sympathizing here. If you tell me posting these pics got you rolling on your task... let me know... and I just might do the same.
I'm desperately seeking clean and organized. Why can't it just "happen?" :)---Tammy

Although I don't care for the mess I'm left with when my family visits, I'd rather have it and them constantly coming over than being alone in a neat house.

I love it when people share reality! And I love that quote!
