Candy Bars

I went into my local mom and pop grocery store the other day for a candy bar. Now, I have NOTHING against this store at all. My very good friends just happen to be MOM and POP there! Anyway, I had a hankering for a candy bar. Chocolate and I are VERY good friends, in case you didn't know that. SOOOOoooo. I started looking over the selection and I noticed something that I had been noticing in every other store I've been in lately. Candy bars do NOT cost 25 cents anymore...or 50 cents...nope, they are getting pretty pricey... So, I did something totally me. I bought a bag of peanuts and brought it home. Then I got out my BIG jug of choc chips and my double boiler. I melted a handfull of chips or 2 and then took it off the burner. I stirred in as many peanuts as I could ( the whole bag, of course!) and then plopped them out by different spoonfuls on waxed paper... you know, sometimes you want a big one and sometimes you just need a mini-candy bar. They sat for a while and then I put them into a couple of plastic containers. Now, I just need to stay OUT of them! The hubby is partial to white choc. so I think today I'll stop in for another bag of peanuts and melt some of those white choc chips that are in the cupboard for times like this!! I like having that big jug of choc chips that I buy from my friend Linda when her co-op orders. When it first comes and I see that huge bag I think ...Oh, MY GOSH!! That it a LOT of chips, but in the 6 months 'til the next order, I'm able to use them all and then some. Our new often baked Oatmeal Choc Chip cookies help out in that department. They don't last long at all. That new snowman cookie jar is empty more than it has cookies. Maybe that can be a Bert job this afternoon.
We have a ballgame today at 2. Sort of puts a kink in my today plans. It was supposed to be last night, but the BIG SNOW made that not happen, so it was moved to today at 4, then again moved to 2. I'm on a roll here at the copy machine. I put stuff in, type a few lines, then process a return. I have to keep looking at the clock, so I will get ready and go in time, and I will lose some momentum then. And I need a LOT of momentum to empty this box this weekend, so on we go!!!!
Have a great Saturday!!

I do that all the time with almonds! And with a little Carmel thrown in it's even better! Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.
