Why is it too long between posts??

I was looking at my blog reading list and noticing that if my blog was on there, I'd be way at the bottom of the list, because I have been slacking on my writing... or really, life just takes up more time..
So, although it is nuts here at work in Erie, and has been at work at the vet clinic last week, I will keep this screen up and and a line from time to time and perhaps end up with a post.

It is bitter cold here. My uncle is in Alaska and reporting the temp at 10, Anchorage at -37 and Barrow at -67. You may wonder why we even care about Barrow, but a while ago when my aunt and uncle went visiting kids and grandkids, Barrow was where they were..so you can be grateful for those extra 30 degrees! or 60!! Of course, it was -12 when we left home on our car. The LLBean is on the fritz, even with new batteries, it keeps going dashes on me. I did have it to -9 this morning in between dashes! On the way to Erie we had a client call, who had driven in the other direction this morning and saw -24 on their temp!! Time for a roaring fire and wool socks and blankets!

Ballgame tonight, so the little gray hand warmer waits for a partner another time...maybe after I get home. It was calling to me earlier, but I was eating and didn't have 2 clean hands to work with. I was easily persuaded to bring out The Blue Umbrella book and prop it for reading. It was a gift to Albert and he read it and said it was good, and I had it in a pile and started it after the Christmas books were done. It's very good. Mike Mason is the author. I may have to read by flashlight tonight just to finish it!! ...oh, it might take a little more than just tonight...especially with that gray ball of yarn crying in the corner for attention.

The college kids are back out of the house and it is different again. Sent contacts to Alex in the mail today, returned a box of stuff that Andy pulled out that she had ordered and rejected in October, but never sent back...then pulled several things out of the washer and dryer thinking Andy probably wanted these, but I asked her if she had everything from the laundry and she said "YEP" so she'll have to wait until the weekend. She was ready to go and I said 'where's your winter coat?' response was 'in the truck'. I said what about a hat and gloves. She rolled her eyes for a split second before I reminded her that walking around at -10 would feel a little better with hat and mittens. She may not ever wear them, but Mom likes to know they are there if you want them.

Haven't taken time with the seed catalogs yet...should probably get my seed-saver tomatoes ordered at least. I want the little Tommy Toes that I grew last year before they are all gone... and then there are the purple peppers from Fedco...and other things that should be tried. And things that need rotating and the bag gardening I am using to make my dirt better... Days like today make spring seem so far away...

Sewing is on hold for today, too. I laid out some flannel, pinned on a pattern and then folded 'em up and moved them over. Probably wouldn't take more than an hour to finish those snowguys flannel pants up...maybe when I get home from work and the ballgame and before knitting and reading...WOW!! Guess I'd better have some Mountain Dew! I'll never get it all done...
but there's always tomorrow... after work...maybe get some help with some cookies, too. ohhh!! I just saw mini-donut cupcakes on someone's blog!! Gotta make those!! Now I'll need to find that special pan! How fun! How cute! How yummy looking..LOOK for YOURSELF!!

OK...this isn't too bad for sneakin' in some writin'....
we're getting ready for a new reading challenge at church in a few weeks and I'm on Skit/Children's Time duty...gotta get those thoughts together... Had a brainstorm yesterday during church, then went to my mom's for Sunday lunch...that' the best thing to do...go to Grandpa Mona's house and have lunch, and do jigsaw puzzles and watch some football or some sports...and have some pie and see what kind of ice cream Grandpa is hiding and maybe fall asleep because you are just fat and happy...or just visit...not so much with games right now...
And then when I came home, it was time to run back to college with one and then stock up a bit on supplies before leaving her there and then home and it's dark and I talked on the phone, firming up details for 103 different things, but leaving 104 still hanging... and then it was Monday... So the skits need to go back to somewhere on the top of the list and ordering some supplies for the reading up there, too...what do you think?? before or after flannel pants tonight?!?!?

Later...

I wanted to tell you that your children's time message was right on yesterday. My little Michael is quite the worrier, so I will be reminding him of your backpack illustration as the need arises. Thank you for your timely message!

It was too long for me. I missed hearing about your busy life. Thackeray is keeping busy on his blog and his Facebook page. Don't forget to get sleep among all the busy things you do!

I guess that thought about it slowing down as the kids leave home is a silly one! Ack!
