Cleaning, Sorting, Pitching...

Here in Erie today. We are thinking and preparing for Tax Season 2011...filing your 2010 taxes. Tossing junk, trashing a fax machine that died last year....rearranging stuff. Trying to figure out how small of pieces I need to take that copy machine down to, for fitting in the trash bags..Taking away the clutter in life that gets you down. It is a bit of a new year's purge happening all around me.
I read a while back that to handle the papers of life, buy a stacking tray thing and put it in your drop spot and you can just put everyone's stuff in their own tray and then you never have those pile laying around...guess what?? not so. Instead you have 5 trays full and overflowing of 'treasure' and then the rest just starts laying around again and you keep trying to stuff it into those 5 neat little trays. Isn't that how life is sometimes? We believe that we should be able to fit everything in, and other people look like everything in THEIR life is all neat and tidy, and before long, you find that the important stuff is still laying out there on the table, waiting for some time and space and the slots are filled by stuff that doesn't really matter that much to you.
So today, I'm tossing...things, stuff, junk...making room....I'm spending time with my friends this year, my family, church things that matter to me...I'm not getting younger and neither is anyone around me. Part of the lesson is that less is more...and oh, so freeing. Set yourself free this year...just a little at a time...you won't be sad...and you won't really miss it. Now hand me that garbage bag over there!! I'm on a roll!!

We've been doing a lot of reorganizing around here, too. It's kind of a pain, but makes you feel great once you're done!

For the moment, I am focusing more on getting organized at the library. Finally, my own office is in the very near forseeable future! Still trying to finish painting the floor, but the new paint has come out PINK! When all this is done, time to turn to my closets at home!

I have an attic room that needs to be cleaned out, and I dread it!
