Tulip Festival Parade - Saturday May 15th

We always start the parade with Street Scrubbing...however, if you are scrubbing the streets, it is hard to take pictures...however, my Aunt Mary takes pictures instead...
I came with a broom and a bucket...never quite sure of my mood. Not so many of the guys do this...In days past, there were more men with neck yoke's with bucket hooks...I was happily slopping water, as I had given my broom to one of Amy's girls...You get pretty wet at her height with the water bucket!! Then my friend Jen Schruers (VERY DUTCH!) came and switched her broom for my bucket and we had some more fun...I like water pitching...you know- tossing it out without QUITE throwing it on people, but the splash gets them!!
There were a couple of 'mature' dancers...these are the Groat Klompen Dancers. We had one that was still doing it at 60 before, but none that old this year. It looks like I'm the Oldie But Goodie in this group...
Next on my camera is the Queen group doing their dance from last night... Cute dance and havin' fun...nothing to be nervous about today!! That blowing wind was knocking things about a bit...a hat here, a sash there....
More of that great Hand Jive....
Born to Hand Jive, Babe!!

A bit of the stroll part... go get 'em Hannah...
And who's next up?? Looks like Andy Sue goin' under the bridge!

This was the queen & court float... Pink 50's Soda Shoppe look... Cherrie and her sisters did the car - isn't it great??
I hope Dan checked with Donna before he took Marbie out cruisin'...
I'm not artsy, but I'm crafty, so I can follow orders. I think it turned out good. And since this is my only daughter, I'm off the hook in the future.

The back view and it's always good when it gets all the way down the street and it's still together...If you've ever done a float, you know what I mean. Have you ever built one in a barn or garage and then couldn't get it out?? I remember letting air out of the tires before, or taking things off and putting them back on after going through the door.
Here's our May Queen again, Jenn Rhodes... Lovely in Coach Hinsdale's car...

The NYS Girls Basketball Champions...We'll brag about it forever, don't you know!!

Stephanie was very happy when Randy told her she could ride the horse in the parade...

Guess it was better than trying to ride this little gal!!

Watching the drill team perform and waiting to roll on by...
What a great day!! Sunny and pretty warm. Just like spring...Not many tulips, but that's normal. We just like to celebrate.

Come back and see us next year!!

Are they doing the TF every year again/still? For some reason, i thought they were every other now... but THIS is the one i would have really wanted to come to...

It is another one of those things - who would think a parade with a bunch of tractors and business trucks and fire trucks was cool?? Small town people.

Brenda- TF didn't happen last year. Gotta have someone to head it up. Queens only every other and community theatre every other. Last year was Cinderella.

This looks like a blast!!!
Once I helped decorate a float. We used allot of duct tape & it didn't stay together well.
