What sup???

So, for starters, for all of you reading-challenged people, I have taken a reading challenge which you can read about here, or just check the list on my sidebar... you will see as I head toward my 3rd week of reading, I have finished 3 books so far. At this pace, I should be OK. Of course, this does NOT count the Mary/Martha reading that I am doing along the way for my SS class. I will not be finished with that at the end of the challenge, because I want to stay at pace with the rest of my class, but it is reading that I will be doing weekly, along with the books that are crossed off...AND... Bert & I are reading Gone Away Lake together at night. I admit I have been chapping on the youngest son.. before I read to each kid at bedtime...then when Bert came along, the older kids were able and wanted to read, so they did, then they (and the rest of us) got busier at night time and the reading aloud has suffered...so I decided if I was going to grow a reader, like I've been growing tomatoes and green peppers, I'd better put a little water and fertilizer on him now and again. No school today, so last night he opted for HISTORY CHANNEL instead and that's OK...for now...

Yesterday, on my drive to work, the sun was shining a bit and this is what I saw, unlike today's rain and dreary a.m. commute... trees are starting to put on their fall garb... but truly, the colors like this, ...
Are mostly found in bunches that are still green. Funny, this is how I was yesterday...still holding out wearing shorts when others had on much warmer clothes...the day before I had on a vest and long sleeves. I really like to wear thick socks, sweatshirts and shorts...
And then as I got closer to work, this is what I could see and smell... I TOLD YOU, REMEMBER? The grapes are ready for the picking...or at least pretty close. Got a little basket on my desk to take home...my, oh, my they smell SOO GOOD!! ...Time for juice...
And if you're in the market for a picker, this is waiting for you on the outskirts of Ripley....You never know when you might need one of these things....

Have a great weekend!! Be looking for next week and hopefully some pictures of Homecoming finery!!

I'm on my second books. I hope to finish it soon so I can sink my eyes into The Lost Symbol.

I'll be waiting to hear how you like that one. I have spent too much time hopping to other blogs to see what their list are, but I have a page and a half of ideas to read after this!! I think some may go onto my Christmas list!!
Good weekend to you!

Somehow I missed out on this reading thing, but I have been reading a lot of books, so maybe I can still get in on it...

Gosh, I wish I could smell those grapes, too! I remember picking them in my younger days and eating way more than what ended up in my pail! Have fun with the bounty!

I love to read. I just dont love fiction. Not unless I am reading with my boys. I love reading nature, horticulture, organic gardening, thisng that save me time on the homestead. But I do give out huge pats on the back to everyone who does enjoy reading everything, fiction included.

I wish I had grapes to smell. I dont even really know what THAT smell is when your near a vineyard. Hmmm, one of those things I might get to do in the next couple of years when my friend gives me 25 grape vines. I hope they turn out ok. I hoep they produce soon too. Do you know how long it might take for them to produce? I have 4 new (2nd yr) vines and the ones he is giving me are 40 years old from vineyards in NY state. He says they will produce up to 100 years or even more if treated right. I wonder.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
