Farmer Boy

One of my goals for 2012 was to revisit my friends on the Prairie.  When I was young, we didn't vacations or camps and stuff in the summer.  We spent a lot of time at the Library.  And we read those Little House books...consumed massive amounts of books.  Had a cute little card to write all those book titles on and had many an adventure starting on the Library steps.
So, I decided to re-read Laura Ingalls Wilder's collection of history.  I have just finished Farmer Boy.  It is just chock full of info and explanations on stuff of the day.  One thing today that stuck with me was when Almanzo said he hated not having work to do...sitting around on Sundays just about killed him.  I think I could be a good sitter-arounder a lot of days.  Today was not one of them and I got quite a bit done.  Not all what I wanted to do, but what I needed to.  And I can mark a few things off my list...and the rest can just go on Wednesday's at-home list.
Maybe you should re-visit your childhood and pick up a book from your childhood.  It just might make you feel young again!!

I've picked up the first 4 books at the Library.  Just started On The Banks of Plum Creek, book 4.  I think they may be the original ones that I read back in the 70's.

I love that our watching LHoP even influenced our baby brother.... naming his cute little puppy Nellie.... and nearly naming the other Willie!

I probably read the same copies too!! My gramma had a hat perfect for pretending I was Laura. Enjoy your visit to the Prairie.

I'm so happy that my daughter loves LHoP, too. What a wonderful series of books for any young child! Enjoy.
