January and June...

You know, one of the differences between January and June is....

Tonight, on June 29th, I was just finishing up walking around my block at 9:30 and I could still see where I was and where I was going...without a flashlight...

In January, it is mostly dark when I come home from work...

I like this for walking....it does make it a little more challenging for settling down. Seems maybe you should still be working on something constructive if it's still light outside. But I've been puttering today and enjoying being home and running some errands with the hubby. I liked this about last summer...Scott sticking his head in the house and saying, "hey, I've gotta run to Erie. Wanna ride along??"

We are together ALOT in January with tax season, although it is the quietest of the tax months...it's sort of a breaking in time. Not too many late nights yet in January. When tax season is over, I sort of miss that 'together' time. Yeah, we get on each others' nerves quite frequently in April. There is sometimes even yelling back and forth, but it usually ends up in us cracking up because it is just stupid.

I'm working on my red skirt. I had so much fun sewing the brown dotty skirt, that I got some red dotty material and another red and I'm doing a skirt like I saw on here.

I thought it might be done before I went to bed, but it's not looking that way right now. The skirt has a zipper and it would be ready for a hem, but I'm going with the double ruffle look. I just feel a bit swingy lately. I forgot to take a picture before I cut the bottom off.

You just take your ruler and measure up 6 inches and chop the bottom off...then you insert a ruffle in the middle and on the bottom and sew it back together. I spend a lot of time cutting material into smaller pieces and sewing it back together, so I guess it's no surprise that I'm pumped up about this little red skirt.

OOpps!! I think I went over the edge! I did the double ruffle and then when I sewed it together and shook it out...it screamed APRON!!. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE to wear aprons, but usually not to church...but what's done is done...and next week is another week, and I can make this cute little skirt without any ruffles out of 1 1/2 yds of material and without ruffles, it will go much quicker...and I did a great job on the zipper, so I'll still count it as a success!!

Upon closer inspection of the instructions for the double ruffle, I see that it is NOT applied in the same manner. It was not hemmed, but double over and gathered...hmmm...is it worth taking that whole part out and redoing??? I may just wear it first and see...I guess to start out with, I'll sleep on it.

Have a good tomorrow... I'll let you know...
