just a few...

I don't get much of a chance to read during tax season, so when it is over, I load up on books and that's good for the most part. A lady at my church loaned me this book to read. It is written by a Russian orphan, and since we adopted a boy from Russia 1o years ago, she thought it might interest me. She sat by this man on an airplane, if I remember correctly. It did interest me and I finished it and gave it back to her this past Sunday. Then I started this book. I got my hair cut last week and it was raining pretty good while I was there and I wasn't in a particular hurry to go outside and our Library in Findley Lake is in the Community Center, as is The Snappy Snipper who cuts my hair. I picked up a couple of books and magazines and visited with some of my friends.

Today I finished this one. I found it very interesting and perhaps there is a little farmgirl trapped inside of me. It appealed to that girl who grows beans and tomatoes and maybe some squash. Who thinks a small chicken flock might not be a bad idea, but whose husband thinks perhaps I'm a little crazy sometimes ...but he loves me anyway! No chickens here!!
And that Saturday trip to the Great Lakes Sheep and Wool show was AWESOME!! I learned so much and I bought a few things and was proud that I held back on some things and I'm wanting to go next year again... or maybe I'll find someone nearby to pick their brain for a while. I kept circling around some fat and thin in natural and didn't really think I needed it, but the thought of experimenting with a little dying was too much for me and now I have to do some research on that. I have some Brown Sheep bulky in a very chocolate brown and a spice and I'm looking for something to bridge between that for a stocking...my next stocking. I think I have everything I need for the first one to be completed. But then I'm thinking about that sweater yarn and pattern I bought for my birthday project.

I DID get one small top sewed together today, but it was the easy one. Only cut and throw it in a bag and then pull 2 out and stitch them together. Only restriction is not to have 2 identicals side by side. The next one has 4 blocks with applique and that's the next pressing thing on my project list - BEFORE the sweater...

What have you got going in your project pile??? I also have the very large hand quilting quilt that I should start on a couple of blocks because I start my count on June 1. That's already tomorrow... oh, dear...

I am glad tax season is over for you and you have time to read and sew! I hope you're enjoying the summer and your family after all that work.

I have never heard of either of those books, so will have to add them to my list. Sounds like you have been busy!
