Saturday Highlights

Saturday was a great day to spend inside a church at a Woman's Retreat. This one was held at Edward's Chapel, not far from me. It started with 8:30 registration, praise and worship at 9 and then 4 morning speakers and 4 in the afternoon. We also enjoyed a couple of ladies on video, some singing and playing... we had a lovely lunch and a good day of fellowship and tears. The first speaker, Grace VanEarden, had to leave to go to work, but the other speakers were Mindy White, Nannette Knappenberger, Karen Nyweide, Jen Harmes, Carole Hunink, Susi Pagan and Jackie Hotchkiss. Thanks so much, ladies, for your sharing... Then, because Mark was going to be gone for the evening, and we had some crafts to work out for an upcoming thing at church, and also some stuff that we'd been talking about and just needed to do, we went to Cheryl's and all got down to work...Here is Cheryl working on her new quilted bag. During our knitting, Cheryl has been carrying the cute little brown paper bag with the handles around with her stuff in it. Well, time has taken it's toll and stuff it starting to poke out and escape from that bag...so I made up a pattern for one and a practice, but we hadn't gotten around to actually getting Cheryl one....
We are now discussing which side of this lovely material will be on the outside. Oh, there is MY little quilted bag ...that blue one laying on the table...and I'm working on the knitting project, intermittantly knitting two together so Kate's stitches will stay on the needle. We really didn't have a number, it was just that she would get more stitches that she could fit on her needle. So I'd put some together until she said it was better. I love little girls who knit and have fun. No grumbling from my little friend...
Besides, I had THE SOCK to finish, so I was partially in knitting mode..
Kathy had a little work to do of handsewing. We were using the machines, so she patiently waited for hers to be open, for her bag sewing project. She adjusted the size on my bucket bag, which made for a bit more figuring and experimenting, but in the end she had a bag to set by her chair, with her knitting inside, that hopefully will deter her dogs from stealing her yarn... :o) These girls needed to try out the Sculpey craft, so we put them on it...
This one was the first to go... But the socks are finished and ready to wear!! YAHOO!! You might be surprised, but I have more yarn and I want to knit ANOTHER PAIR... Just gotta change it up and do something in between...
Have a great day!!

Looks like a whole lot of fun!

I thought Grace VanEarden was a little girl; maybe it's her granddaughter?

Sue-
Yes, this church does one every 2 years in Nov. I've been to 2 and they are very nice. We did a Beth Moore simulcast in the spring and had a good turnout for that.
Mary-
Grace is a senior in highschool-played basketball with my daughter last year. She was the only 'kid' to speak. Part of the theme was being invisible and hers included Compassion kids, and the kids in the world who were suffering. But she had to leave to go to work, so she's not in the picture. I can't find my program and I had it at Cheryl's so it may have gotten left there. A couple of names I needed to check.
