My Summer Vacation....

The first day of my summer vacation, I got into one of two packed to the gills cars and headed west toward Lake Michigan. As is the case on most trips, we needed some food, so pulled off at an exit...TOTALLY by accident it was the CABELLA's exit.... so we gobbled down our food and headed over for a look-see...

The Kids were impressed by the big statue in the front of the wrestling bears...

They decided to pose for the trip photographer to imitate the statue. What do you think??

This is where we ended up...in Michigan...on the lake...This is the lakeside view with the sunset reflecting back in the windows...nice, right?? We spent tons and tons of time in the wonderful, refreshing but warm water of Lake Michigan. Lots of nice sand and some pretty good waves a couple of days...

Bert was in charge of the goggles and boogie board...his sunburn was a strip between his hairline and the top of his goggles. See the sand?? Nice, right??

One day, Alex went fishing...nothing.
Another day, Alex went fishing...he caught little fish to use for bait.
Another day, Alex took the other 3 with him... No fish for Alex, but Daniel caught one and it took Andrea less than 1.5 minutes to land the biggest one!! You see who is cleaning the fish..
Sunsets here were pretty nice. Andrea has just gotten her new camera and was enjoying the chance to experiment a bit with it...

You could go out quite a ways into the water and still touch...and still be on sand...it was so nice.
Every night there was beauty just waiting to be captured on film...

We went to Michigan Adventure one day and had a good time at the amusement park. Andrea said "aren't you taking your camera?? NOPE! One less thing to carry. SOOOOOOoooo no picture of that day...

And one day, we went to Dutch Village to see displays of great interest....and a llama, too!
We found out where Albert came from...seems a large stork delivered him, but I'm not so sure he liked the ride!!
I turned around at one point and was surprised to see this crew posing for me!!
Stop in sometime when you are in the area....
We went home and cooked Shish kabobs and then Alex cooked the fish...it was AWESOME!! Andrea is not much of a fish-eater, but she had to admit that it was pretty good!

Another day of big waves and lots of jumping and I think everyone was pretty tired and ready to call it a good vacation...

The sunset on our last night...

In the morning, when we were packed and leaving, it was rainy and icky and just generally a good time to go...
But we have lots of memories of our vacation at Lake Michigan and who knows?? We may have to go back again!

It looks like you have a lot of fun. I think it's funny that every sunset looks the same no matter where you are.
