Bloggy Friends...are they real or make-believe???

So, what constitutes a friend? If I've never met you in person, and I may never meet you, you can still be my friend. I had penpals when I was young. I guess these are some of the facebook friends of kids today. I have a facebook place, but I really don't go there unless someone tells me to for a good reason. This is where I hang out, waiting for my friends, catching up on the news, getting some great recipes, good advice and helpful hints.
I have a bit of aversion to the requests in my email to be facebook friends with someone. Although, I guess if you think about it, it 'protects' me from those stalking folks that just want to mind my business. They can find me here anytime, whether I know it or not...and so far, I'm OK with that. I do feel a bit weird some days when I start to repeat things to 'real people' that I have read on your blogs. Do other people understand the dynamics that have been falling into place with these people I have never met..may never meet...live far away...with WAY different lives than I have...??People having experiences that I can relate to ...or wish I could...doing things I don't get, or the ones doing things I DO get, but others around me really don't.
I'm not really making changes for my 'green-ness' but the changes I have made, have brought into my circle of blog-friends many who hold green in high esteem. I don't cook as much as I'd like to, but I'm getting some real good recipes here - I'm lovin' that Beer Bread! I learned about making homemade laundry soap here...I'm already on my second batch...still wanting to try making bar soap....but also getting a bit of help with lots of things...learning about alpacas and chickens and goats and gardens...knitting, sewing, crafting, cooking...and doing all of it in my pajamas, with dirty dishes in the sink and unfolded clothes in the basket...at 5a.m. or midnight. Thanks for being there...for commenting and encouraging...for sharing and caring. Bloggy friends ROCK!! Have a great day.

while i love the blessing technology has brought... being able to swap recipes and book titles with my friends in Kosova, reminicing about the trip with our friends in Mali... keeping up with the amazing athletic talent of my niece and nephews.... there's still NO substitute for sitting across the table from a friend lingering over good food and deep thoughts ~ sharing knowing smiles and parting with an honest to goodness hug.

I really love meeting new blogger friends on line. It's similar to pen pals of year ago. We can know each other on the same level.

Yep, I like the whole blog friend thing. I get to meet people from other states, even countries, that I would never get a chance to know. And it's fun to see how really similar most of us are...yet with enough differences to keep things interesting.

Oh, I so hear you about feeling a bit strange telling someone about something I heard from someone on a blog. My family understands when I talk about my 'blog buddies' as my hubby has dubbed all of you. But I often wonder what my co-workers think.
But really, I don't much care what they think because I'm havin fun and "meeting" all kinds of wonderful people.

Ok. Thackeray and I just have to add our 2 cents worth. I have the special honor of having you as a blog friend but also know you in the flesh and still really like you! :-) A year ago, I would never had thought I would be sitting here checking out our blog and yours and realizing there are so many wonderful people out there. I must add however that the library has also made a showing in facebook if you would like to check us out at ripley free library. Go into discussions if you should have a question about anything and we'll see if we can help.

I love this post! One of my "bloggy friends" said on her [blog] the other day that her husband calls "us" her imaginary friends. I replied with a laugh that you're never too old to have imaginary friends!

I'm glad to chatting amongst the dirty dishes in the sink at whatever time of day constitutes "free time" which may be 5AM or midnight.

Have a great day, friend.
