It's My Day...

Yes, it's true... today is my birthday and I am older than I think... I know that because when people ask my age, mostly I have to think of the answer and it often takes me 2 tries!! So my kids made me choc chip pancakes and eggs and toast and juice for breakfast and it was wonderful and then I took a 2m with Mary & Ernie and I walked into the house, grabbed my purse and the dog & I got into the car...I opened the back of my Equinox and Ernie jumped right in...then over the seat and right onto my back seat with his muddy feet and butt!! Guess he figured if he was going to get his shot, he deserved a real seat!! So off we went, got the shot and while I was there, they said they didn't have record of me getting the last one there, must be I went somewhere else...so I reached down into the back flap of my checkbook cover and pulled out the rabies tag from the last time,,,dated 2006 from their clinic...proof! Back home to clean up the kitchen mess, check for some emails that I was expecting, tweek the chart I am making for Bert to record the electric meter readings, thought about doing several other things, but always feel that push to get going, so I can get back. So I was almost to the town clerk and I figured I may as well stop in now and get the license thing taken care of... so now I am all legal again... and I am not getting a real good start on my day...
Last night I talked to a girl from my church who is packing up her house and farm here in NYstate and heading to a big farm in Texas at the end of summer... she has wisely started to pitch and sort. I remember moving with help and opening a box and finding part of a loaf of bread, several pair of socks, and a pan and lid... many boxes were like this...never a dull moment! So perhaps she has the right idea starting early, and with a discriminating friend to help her toss. There are 4 kids involved in the household, so multiply the stuff factor by about 16! But I thought perhaps I would pretend I was moving my household to Texas and start thinning out the stock a little. Whenever I purge, I get a very lifted feeling from my shoulders..
So I have decided that I am looking a little too comfortable and settled and I guess I need to be a little more aggressive with my eating and exercising, so I had a morning snack feeling and I picked the 100 pretzels over the 240 Ritz bits, then had a salad for lunch and a yogurt, which they keep lowering the calorie count on...so, they don't think I've noticed that I am eating at least 2 ounces less than before?!?! AND... today I decided to throw some afternoon snack trail mix into my bag before I left, so I dumped some into a ziploc bag, then looked at the label, only to discover that I am really eating a serving for each of my family members in the amount I dumped into the bag...MOTIVATION-COME BACK!!

Happy Birthday!

To answer your question about the blackberries ... We have plants growing wild by our front gate. My hubby normally keeps them mowed down because they are in a very snakey (water moccasins - venomous) area, but last June and July I dug up some of the plants and put them in containers. I didn't have many containers available (5 gallon bakery buckets) so I put three plants (they were very small) per bucket. I am very much winging it as far as growing them. This is my first experience with them. They have grown quite a bit in that amount of time, are flowering right now, and many berries are already forming. I don't do anything special to them other than treat them with a dose of fish emulsion (I try to do this monthly, but the weather doesn't always cooperate). Hubby helps build new garden beds when we add on to the garden, but the rest is entirely up to me.

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up on my reading. You have been busy! Yeah--I have now gotten to the age that I have to remember my birth year and what year it is now and do the math. My daughter says I am so old I fart dust. THe young can be so cruel! Love your secret blessing---I would love to get their nativity. Hope you have a great day!
